Our Vision, Values and Aims

Our Vision

“Achieving with positive relationships and a caring heart”

At Carron Primary and ELC, we believe that positive relationships are the foundation of learning. We are committed to providing a nurturing, inclusive, and safe environment where every child is valued, respected, and supported to achieve their personal best. Aligned with Scotland’s Curriculum for Excellence, the UNCRC, and GIRFEC, we aim to support the development of the whole child—emotionally, socially, physically, and academically—so they are confident, resilient learners equipped with the skills needed for future life, learning and work.

Together with families and partners, we work to foster a caring, motivated school community where every child is encouraged to try, try again—knowing that mistakes are part of learning, and that kindness, effort, and respect are at the heart of success.

Our Values

Our core values shape how we learn and live together:

  • Treat others how I would like to be treated.
  • Celebrate our differences and everyone’s right to be themselves.

Resilience

  • Learn from challenges and keep going even when things are hard.
  • Develop a positive mindset and the ability to adapt.

Responsibility

  • Take responsibility for my actions, learning, and choices.
  • Be an active citizen in my class, my school, and my wider community.

  • Promote a caring and resilient school ethos where children feel confident to learn, lead, and grow.

How We Support Success in Learning

To ensure every child has the best chance to succeed, we will:

  • Provide developmentally appropriate, active, and well-planned learning that is stimulating, challenging, and enjoyable.
  • Balance play, inquiry-based learning, and direct teaching to meet the needs of all learners.
  • Encourage independence, teamwork, and leadership through collaborative learning opportunities.
  • Offer regular opportunities for curiosity, creativity, and pupil-led exploration. (Metaskills: Curiosity, Creativity, Sense-making)
  • Listen to every child, value their ideas, and support them to be leaders in their own learning. (UNCRC Article 12)
  • Prioritise reading for enjoyment and understanding—because reading opens the door to lifelong learning.
  • Use our outdoor spaces and natural environment to extend learning beyond the classroom.
