Peer Mediators are chosen at the start of every year.
Children in Primary 6 are able to volunteer to be Peer Mediators and are then interviewed for the role.
Peer mediation is a conflict resolution technique that trains school children as volunteer mediators to work with their peers.
Staff and pupils have set up a Peer Mediation Scheme at Carron through which the volunteer mediators work with their peers to help resolve low level conflicts, address bullying, and prevent fights.
Peer Mediators are available at lunchtimes. They stay in the hut and children are able to go to them to discuss any areas of conflict that have arisen.
The children become aware of peaceful and creative ways of dealing with conflict amongst their peers and in their own lives.
